Goals of the Group

The intention of the space is to get together as a group and do things and activities that help us navigate loneliness and are good for mental health and wellbeing. The sessions are designed to have meaningful experiences during the session and also equip you to be able to continue most of these activities on your own after the group ends.

The space intends to offer you a possibility to build your own safety net and network, where you would like to take it ahead once the space officially ends.

Who is the group for?

For young adults and adults who are experiencing loneliness, undergoing any life transition and feeling alone in the beginning, middle or the end of any process. Often loneliness seems very different for every individual and less talked about, it might arise while starting a new job, moving to a new city/country, coming out of a relationship, any other personal milestone. Or as we evolve, we can feel increasingly lonely, particularly if the people in our lives don't evolve alongside us or don't fully respect our shifting wants and needs.

8 Week Plan:

Week 1: Introduction and Context Setting

This week will follow a slow and open process where the group will get to know each other, understanding each other's context and set goal for the space.

Week 2: Journal Therapy

Understand types of journaling, beginner tools and techniques to use in your practice and an in-session journaling exercise.

Week 3: Vision Boarding

A session to reflect and find clarity on your values and goals.

The end outcome is each participant creating an actual offline/online vision board for themselves - which they use as a guiding tool to enhance well being.

Week 4: Bibliotherapy

Group members will read a common selected book and discuss their interpretations and how it relates to their lives and challenges.

Week 5: Music Therapy

A shared playlist listening party where participants discover new music and share their favorite tracks and what it means to them in real-time.

Week 6: Laughter Therapy

A shared standup watching party where participants share a laugh and discuss why a certain video or piece hits home for them.

Week 7: Cinemascope

Group members will watch a common selected movie before the session and discuss their interpretations and how it relates to their lives and challenges.

Week 8: Unfiltered Conversations

A session for difficult conversations, our journeys, what came up for us and what are we taking away for the path ahead.

What happens in a group session?

While the format can vary as per topic, here’s a flow that most sessions follow

Check In. Participants check-in with each others' feelings and answer the prompt given by the facilitator if any.

Conversation. Your facilitator will guide the group in a free-flowing conversation—with the goal of sharing openly, talking honestly, and deep emotional connection.

Check Out. Participants share what they're taking away from the session.

What am I going to get out of this?

Participants say that they feel heard, understood, more in control, and a feeling that you’ve got people rooting for you. By talking about your emotions and what's going on in your life, you'll realise that you're not alone and get ideas for how to improve your situation.

How long has SoulUp been around?

SoulUp was founded in Feb 2022 by Punita Mittal and Mahak Maheshwari - a team of IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay with more than 20 years of combined healthcare experience. SoulUp is redefining mental health through groups that are effective, but also fun, social, and challenging.
