Goals of the group

Through this series, our participants will get to reflect deeper on the question "Is adoption really for me?".

As a closed group, we will focus on nurturing a safe, authentic and non-judgmental space to help participants gather insight/perspective on adoption and making an informed choice – both for those - both for those exploring adoption due to infertility and related issues or for someone who is considering adoption as a choice over biological methods.

Who is the group for?

The group welcomes anyone who is considering or is intrigued by adoption as a path to parenthood, either a single individual or as a couple.

"Is adoption a good choice for me?"
"I'm not too keen on a biological child, can adoption work for me?"
"I thought infertility is the end game, may be adoption is an option?"
"I really want to adopt, but I'm scared how my partner will respond to this."
"I don't know many people around who have adopted children- this is quite an unchartered territory for me."
"Once the child grows up, wouldn't they want to find their biological parents?"
"Will my family even accept an adopted child?"
"I don't want to bring a child home and then make things more difficult for them!"

  • Biggest benefit has been listening and learning about what other people are thinking

  • I just had a very emotional discussion. It was probably one of the most helpful things for me in years.

    Had always wanted to adopt

  • I'd give it a 10 [out of 10]. I'm surprised at how vulnerable and open everyone was in the first session.

What happens in a group session?

While the format can vary as per topic, here’s a flow that most sessions follow

Check In. Participants check-in with each others' feelings and answer the prompt given by the facilitator if any.

Conversation. Your facilitator will guide the group in a free-flowing conversation—with the goal of sharing openly, talking honestly, and deep emotional connection.

Check Out. Participants share what they're taking away from the session.

What am I going to get out of this?

Participants say that they feel heard, understood, more in control, and a feeling that you’ve got people rooting for you. By talking about your emotions and what's going on in your life, you'll realise that you're not alone and get ideas for how to improve your situation.
