It's an age-old story of dreams versus expectations. I found myself torn between my passion for research and my parents' desire for me to become a doctor. Opting for physics over MBBS, disappointment ensued, but eventually, my parents realized that they should give their love to me, not their thoughts, so that I can have my own. They supported me in every decision since then. I started pursuing physics at a nearby college, in newfound friendships and hostel life, only to have COVID disrupt everything. Reality struck harshly when I didn't gain admission to an IIT for my Masters, shattering my confidence. After much perseverance, I secured a spot in a reputable college for my M.Sc . Finally, I had the opportunity to choose astrophysics, a subject I had longed for my entire life. But life threw a little surprise at me. I soon realized it was not the right path for me. Suddenly, my life felt purposeless. Astrophysics had always been my sole focus, but now it wasn't an option. In search of my true passion, I embarked on journeys to academic institutions like IITB, writing research papers and completing my Master’s Thesis along the way.
Now things are falling into place. I've overcome depression and anxiety, my parents are fully supportive, and I've learned to embrace failure as part of life. I believe the deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain. And who knows, you might meet the soul walking upon your path.
