Goals of the Group

The intention of the space is to get together as a group and do things and activities that help us navigate loneliness and are good for mental health and wellbeing. The sessions are designed to have meaningful experiences during the session and also equip you to be able to continue most of these activities on your own after the group ends.

The space intends to offer you a possibility to build your own safety net and network, where you would like to take it ahead once the space officially ends.

Who is the group for?

For young adults and adults who are experiencing loneliness, undergoing any life transition and feeling alone in the beginning, middle or the end of any process. Often loneliness seems very different for every individual and less talked about, it might arise while starting a new job, moving to a new city/country, coming out of a relationship, any other personal milestone. Or as we evolve, we can feel increasingly lonely, particularly if the people in our lives don't evolve alongside us or don't fully respect our shifting wants and needs.

Meet your Facilitator

Sanjoli Sakhuja

Sanjoli Sakhuja is a qualified Art Psychotherapist based in New Delhi, where she maintains a private practice. She holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Psychology from the University of Delhi, and a Master’s degree in Art Psychotherapy from Goldsmiths, University of London.

With over eight years of clinical experience, Sanjoli has worked across diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and families. She currently focuses her practice on individuals between the ages of 21 and 40, addressing a range of concerns including stress and anxiety management, emotional regulation, self-awareness, interpersonal and family conflict, and trauma.

Sanjoli has a particular interest in group work, especially in exploring themes related to identity, familial expectations, self-care, and the establishment of personal boundaries. She emphasises the importance of shared learning within group settings and integrates art-making into her therapeutic approach to facilitate the exploration of complex psychological themes in a more accessible and contained manner.

In addition to her clinical work, she has facilitated several art therapy-based workshops focusing on self-care, stress and anxiety management, and creative self-expression. She is committed to the therapeutic use of art as a means to enhance psychological well-being and foster resilience.

Sanjoli's decision to facilitate a group on loneliness stems from both personal insight and professional observation. In today’s fast-paced, high-functioning world, she has noticed how loneliness can often go unacknowledged—even when people are surrounded by family, friends, or colleagues. Her own reflections on this experience, despite being socially connected, have deepened her understanding of how loneliness can quietly affect emotional well-being. This group was created as a space to explore the many ways loneliness shows up in our lives and to collectively find ways of understanding, holding and managing it—with compassion, creativity, and connection.

More about Support Groups & Therapy Groups:

1. What is an online therapy or support group?

Online therapy groups or support groups are structured, therapist-led sessions where participants gather virtually to discuss and work on specific mental health or personal growth topics.

These groups offer a supportive environment and help members learn coping strategies and relevant techniques from the therapist. Participants offer each other encouragement, share advice, and provide emotional support, helping one another feel less isolated.

2. What benefits can I expect from joining an online therapy group or support group?

Participants in online therapy groups often experience improved mental health, a greater sense of connection, and enhanced coping skills. Group therapy provides structured guidance from a therapist, which can lead to valuable insights and personal growth.

3. How does online group therapy compare to one-on-one therapy?

One-on-one therapy is personalized, focusing solely on your needs, which can be ideal for in-depth, private work with a therapist.

Online group therapy, however, offers a sense of community and shared experience. In addition to learning from the therapist, members get to connect with others facing similar challenges. Group settings provide diverse perspectives and reduce isolation, which participants find valuable.

4. Are online groups effective?

Yes, studies show that online groups can be as effective as in-person groups. The online format provides convenience and accessibility while offering the same structured therapeutic benefits, especially for those who prefer the comfort of their home environment.

5. Will I have to share my personal journey in the group?

Sharing is encouraged but never forced. Participants are free to share only what they feel comfortable with, and many find that opening up gradually is natural and helpful for their own growth.

6. How do online therapy groups or support groups handle difficult emotions that arise?

The therapist leading the group is trained to manage challenging emotions. They provide tools and strategies for coping, helping participants process feelings safely.

7. Can I attend online therapy groups if I’m already in individual therapy?

Yes, many people find that group therapy superbly complements individual therapy, providing additional insights and social support, thus accelerating their healing. Also, users often join group therapy for a topic that they are not focusing on in their individual therapy sessions. Often, therapists themselves recommend their clients to group therapy for a specific area of their life.

8. How do I know if a support group is right for me?

If you’re looking for shared experiences and emotional support rather than structured therapeutic guidance, a support group may be ideal. Otherwise, consider a therapy group for a more structured approach.

You can also join more than one group if you feel it will benefit you, especially if each group focuses on a different aspect of your mental health journey.
