Growing up, I often felt like I didn't quite fit in with my family dynamic. My mom seemed more focused on our extended relatives, while my dad was going through tough times financially. It was challenging because sometimes I felt overlooked by my mom, and I ended up bearing the brunt of some unfair treatment from certain family members. These experiences left me feeling neglected and hurt. However, things started to change for the better when I turned 17. My mom and I began to have open and honest conversations, even if they were difficult at times. Our relationship strengthened, and I'm grateful for the bond we share now. Additionally, dealing with issues of colorism has been an ongoing struggle for me. It's a journey of healing that I face every day, but I'm working through it with patience and resilience.
