Emotions pose the primary challenge in life. I'm referring not only to the detrimental effects of prolonged sadness but also to the potential drawbacks of harboring prolonged happiness. Personally, I believe that even enduring happy emotions for an extended period can be detrimental. I have experienced both situations and discovered that holding onto any emotion for too long hampers personal growth, acts as a distraction from reaching goals, and sometimes even causes us to lose sight of our objectives. This phenomenon is quite common for everyone, but individuals diagnosed with depression face even greater difficulty in managing their emotions, intensifying the problem.
Once I grasped the significance of emotions, I began implementing a strategy: any emotion, be it sadness or happiness, should only accompany me for a maximum of 24 hours, no longer. If a situation evokes sadness, I allow myself to experience it for just 24 hours before actively seeking a solution. The same principle applies to happiness as well.
By adhering to this approach, I have found it easier to emerge from periods of sadness. Initially, it may take some time to adjust, but eventually, it becomes a habit.
