Goal of the group

This group offers a safe, steady, and compassionate space for anyone living with the effects of long-standing emotional hurt or difficult early life experiences. Together, we work on understanding patterns shaped by trauma, strengthening coping skills, reconnecting with the body, and building supportive relationships. Through guided practices, reflective exercises, and facilitated discussions, participants move toward greater self-trust, resilience, and emotional balance.

Session 1: Building Safety & Understanding Your Emotional Landscape

Goal: Build safety, trust, and understanding of how past experiences shape present emotions.

Flow of the session:
• Gentle grounding and introductions
• Understanding what trauma is and how it shows up in everyday life
• Exploring common emotional and behavioural patterns shaped by past experiences
• Group sharing with clear guidelines and boundaries
• Reflection prompt + simple regulation tool to take home

Session 2: The Body, Stress & Finding Grounding Tools

Goal: Learn how the body responds to stress and practise grounding strategies.

Flow of the session:
• Opening check-in and grounding
• Understanding the body’s stress responses (freeze, fight, flight, fawn)
• Identifying personal triggers and early signs of overwhelm
• Practising simple mind–body regulation tools
• Group sharing and guided reflection

Session 3: Emotional Patterns, Inner Voices & Self-Compassion

Goal: Explore emotional patterns, self-talk, and inner protective strategies.

Flow of the session:
• Grounding + emotional check-in
• Understanding emotional loops (shutdown, people-pleasing, avoidance, self-blame)
• Exploring inner voices and protective parts
• Gentle Expressive Arts / journaling activity
• Group reflection + building self-compassion practices

Session 4: Strengthening Resilience & Creating Your Healing Toolkit

Goal: Strengthen resilience and identify tools for continued healing after the group.

Flow of the session:
• Opening grounding + shared reflections from the past weeks
• Identifying personal strengths and growth areas
• Creating a personalised “healing toolkit” (regulation tools, boundaries, support practices)
• Closing group sharing, appreciation round, and future resources
• End-of-group grounding exercise

Sakar Narula is a psychologist with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Psychology. Over the years, he has worked with individuals navigating long-standing emotional wounds, difficult early life experiences, and patterns shaped by trauma. His work focuses on helping people understand how past experiences influence their emotions, relationships, and sense of self, while supporting them in building greater emotional safety and resilience.

His therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and integrative, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Expressive Arts Therapy, and reflective practices. Sakar also runs Zentered Minds Psychological Services, where he works on therapy, training, and mental health programs focused on experiential and trauma-informed approaches.

He values group spaces for the sense of shared understanding they create. Through guided discussions, experiential activities, and reflective exercises, he aims to foster environments where individuals can safely explore their experiences, develop self-awareness, and realise they are not alone in their healing journeys.

How is confidentiality maintained in Groups?

Confidentiality in Support Groups is maintained using secure meeting links and enabling waiting rooms to control participant access. Participants are bound by mutual confidentiality clause within the group. and sessions are not recorded without explicit consent.

Are Group sessions done on video?

Yes, all group sessions are conducted on video via Zoom.

While participants are allowed to use pseudonyms - they need to be on video to make the most of the session.

What is SoulUp's refund policy on Groups?

1. After you have registered for the group and you'd like to opt out:
- Full refund if you cancel 30 days before the group start date.
- 50% refund if you cancel 16-30 days before the group start date.
- No refund if you cancel 0-15 days before the group start date.

2. If SoulUp cancels a group, we will refund the entire signup fee.

3. If SoulUp reschedules a group by more than 2 weeks, we will inform you and give you an option to opt out and get a full refund.

4. SoulUp reserves the right to remove participants from a group if found unsuitable to the group. In such cases participants are given the option of claiming the pro-rata amount left as a refund or using it for another service on SoulUp.

Can I use multiple discounts while signing up for a group?

5. Will I have to share my personal journey in the group?

Sharing is encouraged but never forced. Participants are free to share only what they feel comfortable with, and many find that opening up gradually is natural and helpful for their own growth.

6. How do online therapy groups or support groups handle difficult emotions that arise?

The therapist leading the group is trained to manage challenging emotions. They provide tools and strategies for coping, helping participants process feelings safely.

7. Can I attend online therapy groups if I’m already in individual therapy?

Yes, many people find that group therapy superbly complements individual therapy, providing additional insights and social support, thus accelerating their healing. Also, users often join group therapy for a topic that they are not focusing on in their individual therapy sessions. Often, therapists themselves recommend their clients to group therapy for a specific area of their life.

8. How do I know if a support group is right for me?

If you’re looking for shared experiences and emotional support rather than structured therapeutic guidance, a support group may be ideal. Otherwise, consider a therapy group for a more structured approach.
