About me

Mamatha Pendyala is an experienced counselling psychologist who can deeply resonate with clients’ emotions and create a space that makes clients feel seen, heard, and valued. Her psychotherapy emphasises the client's freedom. She adopts a collaborative approach aimed at helping clients meet personal goals, which ensures agency and the client’s commitment to treatment. Her training in Choice Theory enables her to impart a sense of agency to the client and adopt a unique approach aimed at reducing feelings of helplessness and hopelessness by creating a sense of empowerment. She specialises in assisting individuals grappling with substance addiction, anxiety, depression, and trauma, helping them attain personal, social, educational, and vocational growth and adaptation effectively. Her counselling specifically focuses on enabling the individual to lead a good quality of life and have a better relationship with themselves.

Her counselling approach is versatile, drawing from her proficiency in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) along with various other trauma-informed approaches.  Mamatha completed her basic and advanced training in CBT, along with Basic Training in Choice Theory, Reality Therapy, and Lead Management. She has also completed a Diploma in Community Mental Health from NIMHANS along with Telecounselling and Teletherapy Level I and II from DhairyaDa Institute.  She has worked with individuals as inpatients at rehabilitation and de-addiction centres. Additionally, she has received specialised training in managing crises, particularly cases involving suicide and self-harm, through a crisis intervention helpline. Mamatha has also conducted 85 group sessions on various topics like anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, social skills, etc., with the main goal of creating support spaces for individuals going through distress. Currently, she is conducting sessions privately.  Mamatha has 3 years of experience as a psychologist. She has completed her Master's in Clinical Psychology along with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Sociology, and Economics.

Therapy Bookings: Terms & Conditions

Sessions coordinated directly with the therapist

Once you book a session with a therapist via SoulUp, we put you in touch with them via WhatsApp allowing you and your therapist to coordinate on a mutually convenient time.

Cancellation policy

You can reschedule or cancel sessions or switch therapists upto 24 hours of the slotted time, post which no rescheduling or refund of sessions is possible.

Late to session policy

If you are over 15 mins late to the session, then the session will be held cancelled and no refund will be available. This has been done to ensure a 'full' session for you as well as to ensure enough gap-time for the therapist before their next session.

Cancelling part of a bundled session

For sessions bought as bundle of 4 at discounted price - if after n sessions, either the therapist or the client wants to discontinue sessions, we initiate refund of remaining sessions. In this case, the actual non-discounted price is deducted for each completed session (instead of the pro-rata amount per session) from the price of the bundled offering and the refund is issued.
