The event venue is a cosy 20 seater theatre - a perfect setting for the movie screening and the rich discussion that will follow

  • Screening | 2.5 hours. There will be a tea-break in the middle of the movie.
  • Guided Discussion | 75 minutes: The highlight of the experience! Naveen will facilitate the discussion - Participants will be encouraged to share their personal reflections and how the film resonates with their own life experiences. The discussion will focus on topics such as the search for meaning, personal fulfillment, and how we approach life’s challenges, providing a safe space for deep introspection and mutual support.

Lunch:

There will be a lunch break between the screening and discussion session.

We will be ordering lunch for attendees. You have the option to a) pre-book lunch during registration, b) bring your own c) Have lunch at the venue canteen which serves simple, hygienic food.

Paras is co-founder and Director at The Alternative Story – a mental health startup based out of Bengaluru.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling and is soon to complete a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.

In a career spanning over 12 years – he has worked in hospitals, helplines, corporate mental health organizations and academic institutions. He has helped set up India’s largest counselling helpline run by trained mental health professionals and has helped set up and train government helplines to address Violence Against Women in states such as Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh.

He has worked in association with government and non-government organizations at the grassroots in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu to enhance community mental health.

He lives with mental illness and chronic illness and is currently engaged in awareness building and research on the same.

The movie is suitable for all ages. The post-movie discussion calls for deeper introspection and reflection and hence is more valuable for adults.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Just bring yourself and an open mind. If you’d like, you can also bring a notebook and pen for jotting down thoughts during the discussion.

Will there be a break during the movie?

There will be a short intermission halfway through the movie to stretch, use the restroom.

There will also be a break post the viewing to grab lunch before we start the discussion and reflection session with Naveen.

What time should I arrive for the event?

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time to get seated and settled. The founding team of SoulUp will also be there to answer any questions you have about the movie, the event and SoulUp in general :)
