Help me find a Group

Imagine this: Turning and tossing at 2 AM, staring at the ceiling, counting sheep, rethinking every decision you’ve ever made. Does it sound familiar?

Sleep is meant to be our body's time to rest, recover, and recharge. But for many individuals, it feels like everything other than restful. Whether you're wide awake most of the night, unable to shut down your mind, keep waking up throughout the night, or waking up in the morning feeling like you've slept zero hours, sleep issues can be truly frustrating, isolating, and draining.

In fact, sleep issues aren’t just frustrating; they can affect everything: your mood, your energy, your focus, and even your relationships. Many apps, books, and tricks claim to offer the "ideal" sleep schedule, but few address the emotional, psychological, and personal issues that may disrupt your sleep. That’s where support groups for sleep issues can make a real difference.

Why Support Groups For Better Sleep Matter?

Many people think of sleep issues as a solitary struggle; something to be solved with a new pillow, a darker room, or another round of melatonin. But what often goes unnoticed is how deeply connected sleep is to what we’re going through emotionally and mentally.

Here’s how support groups can help those who struggle with sleep:

Shared Experience: Perhaps the most compelling part of a group is knowing that you're not alone. Being able to hear others describe their sleep issues, whether it's stress, anxiety, trauma, or burnout, can help eliminate the sense of isolation that so commonly accompanies such topics.

Emotional Support: Unlike a doctor's appointment or general advice that fits everyone, support groups provide a place to really express about what you're experiencing emotionally. You may not even know how much you're carrying until you're part of a group where it feels okay to open up.

Practical Strategies: In guided conversations facilitated by trained therapists or facilitators, attendees learn evidence-based strategies to enhance their sleep, from enhanced sleep hygiene to coping with intrusive thoughts before bed.

Perspective and Hope: Having a glimpse of people who are ahead in their recovery process, people who were once at your stage but are now resting better, is very motivating. It provides not only guidance, but hope.

Accountability and Consistency: It's hard to make changes to lifestyle or attitude by yourself. Group support helps you stay consistent – not by relying on willpower, but by drawing strength from shared motivation and connection.

The Emotional Roots of Sleep Issues

Many sleep issues have emotional or psychological roots. Stress, anxiety, trauma, burnout, and ongoing life challenges often show up most loudly at night, when everything finally slows down.

Support groups create space to explore these deeper patterns gently, without pressure to “fix” yourself overnight. Instead of chasing quick solutions, the focus shifts to understanding what’s keeping your mind and body alert when they need rest, and how to slowly rebuild safety, calm, and rhythm around sleep.

What Do Support Groups For Sleep Issues Look Like?

Support groups for sleep issues are structured yet human. You’re not expected to perform, track perfect routines, or show up with answers. Sessions focus on sharing, reflection, and learning together.

Discussions are guided by trained therapists who help members connect emotional patterns with sleep behaviours. Over time, participants begin experimenting with small, realistic changes, checking in on what helps, what doesn’t, and how their sleep responds.

The process is gradual, supportive, and deeply personalised — recognising that better sleep is not just about habits, but about how safe and settled your nervous system feels.

Who Can Participate in Sleep-related Support Groups?

These groups are available to anyone who is looking for authentic support and actionable strategies for growth. You don't need a diagnosis or a referral. You simply need to be willing to be yourself.

There's a place for you here if you're:

• Having trouble with persistent insomnia
• Dealing with stress that disrupts your sleep
• Feeling emotionally overloaded
• Recovering from burnout or trauma
• Just wanting to sleep better and feel more like yourself again

Sleep struggles can be lonely, but recovery doesn't have to be.

What do SoulUp Groups Offer?

Many sleep issues have emotional or psychological roots. SoulUp offers a wide range of support groups designed to address these related challenges. You can choose a group that best matches your experiences or consider joining multiple groups based on your needs.

Workshop on Better Sleep Hygiene: An in-depth understanding of daily habits that influence your sleep is gained here by learning what actions to take and avoid to help your body and mind prepare for restful sleep.

Depression Support Group: Sleep and mood are intricately linked. This group is about learning about and coping with depressive symptoms, which oftentimes involve insomnia or sleeping too much.

Anxiety & Emotional Regulation Group: If your brain won't shut down at night or you're wired even though you're exhausted, anxiety may be at the root. It teaches you how to soothe your nervous system and rearrange anxious thought patterns.

PTSD Support Group: Trauma creates significant disruptions in sleep, such as nightmares, being on high alert, and the inability to relax. We offer trauma-informed care in a supportive, compassionate environment.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Support Group: Fatigue involves more than just sleep; it encompasses energy, pacing, and listening to your body. We provide support specifically for individuals living with chronic fatigue.

Career Challenges Group: Work-related stress, burnout, and job insecurity can affect your sleep, especially for professionals undergoing challenging career changes or stressful work environments.

Here’s what you can anticipate from SoulUp’s groups:

• Small, intimate groups of 5–6 members

• Led by experienced therapists

• Online, flexible, and accessible via Zoom

• Real tools, real progress with research-backed strategies
