About me

Sumithra Ravishankar is a Counselling Psychologist with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology with distinction and over six years of experience. Drawing on both professional training and lived experience, she supports individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, low self-worth, relationship difficulties, and addiction. She believes that with the right support and commitment, individuals can work through difficult experiences and find a meaningful path forward.

Her therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed counselling, inner child work, somatic techniques, and Gestalt therapy. She helps clients explore underlying emotional patterns, understand how past experiences influence their present lives, and develop healthier ways of coping. She strives to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients can express themselves openly and work towards healing at their own pace.

Sumithra also supports individuals participating in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) programmes, working alongside their sponsors as a therapist. She extends her support to families affected by addiction, helping them better understand addiction and navigate its emotional and relational challenges.

Beyond her counselling practice, Sumithra has reached over 1,000 women through life skills workshops focused on holistic well-being. Her work centres on helping individuals build self-awareness, strengthen emotional resilience, develop healthier relationships with themselves and others, and move towards greater self-acceptance and lasting well-being.

Therapy Bookings: Terms & Conditions

Sessions coordinated directly with the therapist

Once you book a session with a therapist via SoulUp, we put you in touch with them via WhatsApp allowing you and your therapist to coordinate on a mutually convenient time.

Cancellation policy

You can reschedule or cancel sessions or switch therapists upto 24 hours of the slotted time, post which no rescheduling or refund of sessions is possible.

Late to session policy

If you are over 15 mins late to the session, then the session will be held cancelled and no refund will be available. This has been done to ensure a 'full' session for you as well as to ensure enough gap-time for the therapist before their next session.

Cancelling part of a bundled session

For sessions bought as bundle of 4 at discounted price - if after n sessions, either the therapist or the client wants to discontinue sessions, we initiate refund of remaining sessions. In this case, the actual non-discounted price is deducted for each completed session (instead of the pro-rata amount per session) from the price of the bundled offering and the refund is issued.
